What does Papa Dragon tend the garden with?
The things I reach for every day to tend the garden. How the site itself is built, the colophon note tells in more detail.
Where the writing happens
A Mac is the main workbench: writing, test runs and illustrations all happen there.
Notes are plain Markdown files that any editor can open. No CMS, no database; Git keeps the history of every word.
What runs the site
Bun and TypeScript, no outside libraries, no build step. One server.ts does it all, with hand-written CSS.
The site lives on a small virtual machine in Vietnam. Push a change, and it's live a few seconds later.
What AI helps with
Claude Code helps scaffold, edit sentences and write the site's code. I read every word before it reaches the page.
Illustrations are drawn with FLUX.2-klein-9B in a children's-book style, then traced to SVG with vtracer for clean lines. Every one is in the gallery, prompt included.
For terminal wanderers
chafa draws images as block characters, and resvg turns SVG into PNG first. Two tiny tools, enough to give curl olragon.com pictures.
I test the PowerShell TUI with pwsh right on the Mac. The workbench will change; whatever stays here a long time is probably good.
